Aluminum Traffic Sign Recycling

Watch our Northwest Sign Recycling videos to see how old aluminum traffic signs become reusable sign blanks. This page explains our hydrostripping process from start to finish. It gives agencies, contractors, municipalities, and sign shops a closer look at our work. Since 2005, Northwest Sign Recycling has helped customers reduce waste and lower replacement costs. We also help extend the life of aluminum signage. From our Central Oregon facility, we serve customers across the United States.

Our hydrostripping system uses a chemical-free, high-pressure water stream. The process removes reflective sheeting, adhesives, inks, and coatings from aluminum signs. It protects the aluminum while creating a smooth surface for refacing. The system works on flat and extruded aluminum signs. It also handles many sizes, shapes, and thicknesses. This video highlights the quality and consistency behind our traffic sign recycling services. It also shows why hydrostripping is a practical alternative to buying new signs.

The video explains what happens after signs arrive at our facility. Each shipment is inventoried and inspected before production begins. Signs then move through our hydrostripping system for processing. Our programmable equipment adjusts pressure and speed for different materials and coatings. The system drives a focused water stream at up to 45,000 PSI across the sign face. That force removes laminates, adhesives, and reflective materials without damaging the aluminum underneath.

After hydrostripping, each sign is deburred and inspected for quality. Clean sign blanks are then stacked on pallets and prepared for shipment. The finished blanks are ready for new sign faces and continued use.

Reusing aluminum signs helps reduce landfill waste and lowers demand for new aluminum production. It also supports sustainability goals while helping agencies control project costs. Refurbishing existing sign blanks keeps valuable materials in service longer. If you want to understand our process, this video is the best place to start. Watch it to learn how aluminum sign refurbishment improves efficiency, supports greener operations, and provides reliable nationwide traffic sign recycling services.
