ALUMINUM SIGN HYDROSTRIPPING PROCESS EXPLAINED

How Aluminum Sign Hydrostripping Works

Our aluminum sign hydrostripping process removes old sign faces and preserves the aluminum underneath. We process flat and extruded aluminum traffic sign panels. High-pressure water strips away reflective sheeting, coatings, inks, and adhesives. This method protects the metal and avoids harsh grinding methods.

Step 1: Receiving, Sorting, and Inspecting Retired Sign Panels

Retired traffic signs arrive at our facility first. We inventory, sort, and inspect each shipment. We check the material type, panel condition, and thickness. Then we decide which signs fit refurbishment. We also flag signs that fit scrap recovery credits.

Step 2: Hydrostripping, Pressure Washing, Flattening, and Hand Deburring

Next, we hydrostrip each sign to remove the old face. Then we pressure wash each panel to remove glue residue. If needed, we hammer panels flat. We also deburr edges by hand during this step. This process creates a cleaner sign blank for refacing.

Step 3: Drying, Inspecting, and Palletizing

After processing, we dry, inspect, and palletize the sign blanks. We check surface condition and final quality. Then we stack the blanks for shipment. We can also reface them with new reflective faces before delivery.
